Christmas tamales, a tradition

Filed under: Places to visit — Tags: , — washaw @ 6:00 am

Christmas tamales are a traditional food from my childhood growing up in a rich TexMex culture.  Preparing the tamales pulled together many of the families in my community for a special holiday event.  My family enjoyed serving tamales right along side our traditional turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, candied yams, cranberries and pecan pie.

If you don’t make your own tamales the best place in San Diego to get them is Ancira.  They make delicious tamales.  Merry Christmas!

  1. Yum! I used to work at Bob Stall Chevrolet, both the old and new locations, and someone would come in and sell the best tamales!

    Merry Christmas!!

  2. Love tamales at Christmas! I once (ONCE!) made them for a Christmas dinner. Lots of work, though they did taste incredible. I’ll have to check out Ancira!
